Do I have to pay for parking?
- Parking is free of charge at most of our locations. Please click here to see locations.
- Our Burlington location has a $4 parking fee.
- Our Scarborough and St. Catharines locations provide validated parking.
- Our Toronto location has limited free parking and paid parking available.
Are all of your locations accessible for patients with mobility needs?
- Yes. All of our locations are accessible to patients with mobility needs.
Are KMH services covered by OHIP?
KMH services are covered by OHIP if you are an Ontario resident with a valid Ontario health card and have been referred by a qualified healthcare professional. The exception is ambulatory blood pressure monitor testing, which is not covered by OHIP.
- If you're paying privately, some insurance providers can be billed directly. In other cases, you may need to pay upfront and submit the receipt to your insurance.
If you do not have a valid OHIP card at the time of your appointment, do not have OHIP coverage, or are covered under another provincial health insurance plan, you will be required to pay for your test upfront.
What forms of payment does KMH accept?
- KMH accepts payment by credit or debit card only. If you have any questions or concerns regarding payment, please contact our office in advance of your appointment.
Do your specialists offer virtual appointments?
- KMH currently offers virtual consultations for Cardiology and Internal Medicine. However, not all physicians offer virtual visits. Please contact us if you have any further questions.
- For virtual appointments, please log in 5–10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
- 24 hours before your virtual appointment, you will receive an email and text message with your visit link and PIN.
- Please do not disconnect after joining, as the doctor may be a bit late. The usual wait time is less than 30 minutes.
Is there a cancellation fee?
- To avoid potential inconvenient charges, KMH respectfully requests a minimum of 48 hours notice of cancellation.
Is there wheelchair access?
- Yes, all locations are wheelchair accessible. For MRI appointments, MRI-safe wheelchairs are available at both our Kitchener and Markham locations.
Can I request a female technologist?
Yes. If you prefer a female technologist, you may submit your request using the General Request Form. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your preference; however, staff availability may vary. If we are unable to fulfill your request, we will discuss alternative appointment options with you.
I have a referral from an out-of-province doctor, can I book an appointment?
- Please contact KMH for specific details pertaining to your test and the Province in which you reside.
What are your hours of operation?
- Most testing is performed between 7:30am and 5:30pm however evening and weekend appointments may be available depending on the type of test and the KMH location. Please submit an inquiry or call our booking centre at 1-877-564-5227 for further information.
- Our call centre is open Monday to Fridays from 8am-6pm, and Saturdays from 9am-5pm. If you have a next-day or same-day appointment, you can reach us outside of our call centre hours, by pressing extension 7.
I lost my health card, can I still come to my appointment?
If you have lost your health card, please take the following steps. To replace a lost, stolen, or damaged Ontario health card, you can contact ServiceOntario at 1-800-664-8988 (if your name and address have not changed), visit a ServiceOntario location, or use their online services. After reporting your lost health card, please contact KMH prior to your appointment for further guidance.
- Yes. Patients with a Quebec provincial health card are required to pay for their KMH test upfront. You may submit your receipt to your provincial plan for possible reimbursement.
- You will need to pay if you are having an MRI. For all other KMH tests, if you have a valid health card from another Canadian province or territory (excluding Quebec), you typically do not need to pay for your insured diagnostic test.
- Ontario participates in a program called Reciprocal Medical Billing (RMB). This means we can bill your home province directly for most medically necessary services, so you are not charged out of pocket.
How do I obtain a copy of my images?
- Through an integration with PocketHealth, patients can conveniently access their medical imaging records online by accessing the online form (www.mypockethealth.com) to enroll, or by filling out the paper form they are provided at the time of their registration at KMH.
